Commissioned by the East Neuk Festival for the Orlando Consort, who gave the first performance at St Monan’s Kirk, East Neuk on 3rd July 2008. An introduction, based on plainsong Antiphons from the feast of the Visitation, describes Mary’s journey from Nazareth to Judah, her arrival, and the leaping of her cousin Elizabeth’s unborn child in her womb.

Commissioned by St. John’s College, Cambridge for its 2009 Advent Carol Service, and first performed by them under Andrew Nethsingha (with Graham Walker, cello) in St John’s College Chapel, Cambridge on 28th and 29th Nov 2009 (broadcast on BBC Radio). A dramatic setting of these much-loved words.

Written in November 2009 for the choir of Clare College, Cambridge and first performed by them under Tim Brown at St John’s, Smith Square, London on 16th December, 2009. A setting of lines from De rerum natura by Lucretius (95-55 BCE) which celebrate the wonders of a continually evolving world – a century before the dawn of Christianity, and nineteen centuries before Darwin published The Origin of Species.
